近幾年來,企業經營環境競爭日趨劇烈,顧客的需求也愈趨多樣化,企業提供之產品,不僅價格講求競爭力,在產品的要求上,更是以多樣化、短交期為必要之條件。在這種環境下,企業無不自其內部或外部尋求降低成本、提高品質之方式,而製造管理的理念、方法也在這過程中也不斷地求新、求變,在這個趨勢下,很多企業開始試著從現存的系統與工具中去尋找可以增進企業績效的方法,其中,製造型的企業開始以精實生產的方式來實現其競爭優勢(Hobbs, 2004)。本研究將企業協同,當成外部干擾之構面來探討,分成顧客與供應商兩構面,探討此兩干擾因素在精實生產與製造績效間的影響。本研究以2005年天下雜誌所調查之製造業為研究主體,隨機選出500家企業發出問卷,有效問卷95份,有效回收率19%。研究結果發現,供應商協同對製造績效中品質、成本、彈性三構面有顯著干擾效果;顧客協同則對品質、成本、彈性、服務有顯著干擾效果。
