Numerous studies prove that Taiwan is ranked as one of the most important world tourism generator countries in the world (World Tourism Organization, 2007). The Taiwanese Outbound Travel Index in recent years had a significant growth (International Tourism Forecast). According to the Bureau of Tourism of Taiwan in 2007, almost 9,000,000 tourists travelled abroad. This is showing an increase of 56.88 % in the last ten years. (See Appendix 3: Outbound Departures of Nationals of the R.O.C. by Gender, 1980~2007)
