隨著世界油價上漲,替代性能源是近年來最火熱的議題。在這股世界潮流中,太陽能相關產業是近年來台灣產業中異軍突起的明星產業。由於產業仍處於成長階段,太陽能電池的供需平衡、技術發展、產業生態仍處於變動的狀態,各廠商在策略發展上,有很大的發揮空間。也因此,太陽能廠商的發展策略,較其他高科技廠商更為靈活、多元,有更多的探討空間。
本研究從理論研討出發,策略為體,財務為用。本研究期望從理論研討出發,對台灣太陽能電池產業的現況進行系統性的評述,理解太陽能產業中各廠商採取策略的原因與條件。研究首先以太陽能電池的製程、價值鏈與價值網作為策略發展的理論依據,針對茂迪科技、中美矽晶、合晶科技、益通光能與綠能科技五家台灣廠商,討論其在價值鏈上的定位與策略宣言,再以資本市場對該廠的評價對各家業者的策略進行檢視。從淨值與股價淨值比的歷史發展軌跡中,檢討各廠商的發展路徑是否與其策略相符,其發展策略是否奏效,同時嘗試著從研究中歸納出太陽能產業發展的最佳實務模式。
多數的廠商在上游原物料短缺的環境下,在價值鏈上做垂直整合,向上游管理為主流的策略路線。然而,亦有廠商在價值網上採取橫向的發展模式,也可爭取一片天空,獲得資本市場的肯定。各種成長策略都有一定的成效,並無固定的成長策略模式。
歸納研究分析的結論,對早期進入市場的廠商而言,宜先求取生存利基再擴張規模追求低成本的成長路線。對較晚入行的廠商來說,其成本與技術難以與既有廠商抗衡,宜採取跳蛙策略跳越主流規模,發展下個世代產品,為較佳的成長策略。
As the rising price of petroleum, the reaserch of alternative energy is an insistent basket of problem. In the trend of the searching alternative energy, in Taiwan, solar realated industries are the fast blooming stars. The burgeoning industry may has some dramatic changes in technology, supply side equilibrium, and the competitive landscape. In such environment, thoses firms may try different kinds of growth strategies, and we could do some deeper study in the strategic field.
Basing on theorical study, the financial base model is used as the muturl proof of strategy analysis. There is a systematic observation on Taiwan solar cell industry. Through the description of the present state, we could understand those firms’ strategic logic and the reasons behind their behaviors. The investigation started on the manufacturing of solar cell, and the study of strategy is base on industry Value Chain and Value Net. Five firms are selected as the study objects, which are Motech Technology, Sino-American Silicon Products, Wafer Works, E-ton solar, and Green Energy Technology. According to the Net Value and Price/Book value Ratio Model, the historical path of each firms is tracked. The financial perfermance shows a firm’s growth path,and the contrast of strategy and market value shows the effectiveness and the execution efficiency of the stratey. Further more, the study also tried to generate a best strategy pratice of solar industry.
In the meterial shortage situation, most of the firms made a lots efforts on supplier management. Vertical integration on supply chain seems to be an irresistible trend. However, not all of the players follow the rule, some corporates, such as Wafer Works, adopt another expansion method. They form
an alliance with china competitors and performed appraisable on stock price. Thus, there are no only one rule in Taiwan solar field.
To compress the result of research, the early entrants came out an expansion rule that most of early entrants followed. In the early time; during the start-up status, firm needs somehow special niches to struggle their way out. Only when the start-up company gains a fortune by the special skills, they could had the opportunity and adequacy resources to expand the scale. Apropos of the new comers, comparing to the originals, they are weak in technology level and cost structure. The better strategy to avoid competition is jumping across the present product and leapfragging to the next generation.
