顏色降階機制(color reduction scheme)的主要概念是將影像透過某種演算法的運算後,產生足以代表該影像的固定數目調色盤顏色(palette color)。然後,將這些調色盤顏色透過顏色取代的過程,將原圖的每一像素依序掃瞄後取代。因為調色盤的顏色少於原圖顏色,所以我們稱這樣的過程為顏色降階。
在傳統的顏色降階機制中,為了達到凸顯邊緣或是用做區塊分割的工具,降階後的影像常會有失真、色塊的情形出現。再者,也有方法直接將誤差擴散(error-diffusion)的方法套用於顏色取代的過程,造成出現顏色的特異點。以上均說明,降階後影像的視覺效果是現階段應用技術改善的重點。
本論文提出一種新的顏色降階機制,架構在傳統的顏色降階機制的基本概念上,在取得降階後影像的顏色時,將調色盤顏色做了分群的動作,並在顏色替換的過程中套用分群誤差擴散的概念。此外,調整誤差擴散比例的參數,亦可以增加整個影像的視覺效果,彌補過度擴散後顏色反而失真太多。
The issue of color reduction is to represent the original graph by fewer colors. In this paper, k-mean clustering technique is applied to avoid color shifting problem, and additional weight factor is also applied on color replacing and diffusing to smooth the color variations. The color reduced result of the proposed scheme has smooth color variations and does not have blocks of monotone color. The experiment shows that the proposed scheme has better visual results, and the comparison results of MPSNR and BPSNR metrics also conform to this improvement.
