早在1992年台灣政府開放台商投資大陸以來,便有許多台商前往大陸投資設廠,但是近年來,大陸環境上的變化與複雜使得企業做出不同的後續投資決策。因此本研究著重在探討已經在大陸投資設廠的廠商,面對一般環境與產業環境的不確定性,會如何影響其後續的經營策略,並進一步研究廠商能力以及依賴當地市場的程度對於其後續投資決策會產生何種程度的影響。本研究主要根據國家競爭優勢理論、折衷理論以及能力基礎觀點的廠商理論進行假設推導,然後配合實證的方式來驗證本研究所推導之假設。
本研究實證結果發現:
一、 一般環境中的政治法令環境不確定性越高,廠商越傾向選擇穩定 或緊縮策略。顯示政治法令環境對於企業未來經營方向影響較甚。
二、 產業環境中的產品市場不確定性越高,廠商越傾向選擇穩定或緊縮策略。顯示產品市場的不確定性對於企業未來經營方向影響較甚。
三、 在面對產品市場的不確定性時,廠商擁有的能力越多,會使得傾向選擇穩定或緊縮策略的廠商,緊縮程度降低。
四、 當廠商面對政治法令環境不確定性時,依賴當地市場的程度越高,會使得廠商傾向選擇緊縮的程度加劇。
五、 當廠商面對產品市場環境不確定性時,依賴當地勢場的程度越高,會使得廠商傾向選擇緊縮的程度加劇。
After Taiwan government loosen the restrictions on Taiwanese corporations’ investment in China, more and more Taiwanese corporations were entering into China to make some investments. However, in the recent years, the complexity and variability of China environment influence the follow-up decisions for those corporations. As a result, this paper investigates the sequential investment strategies of Taiwanese corporations which have foreign direct investment in China when they face general environmental and industrial uncertainty.
Furthermore, we examine whether corporation capabilities and the level of local market dependency would influence the sequential investment strategies or not. Our hypotheses are based on the theory of competitive advantage, the eclectic theory and capability-based view, using those theories with our empirical results to prove our assumptions.
In this paper we found the following results.
First, the higher level of uncertainty in political environment, the higher probability those corporations would choose stable or retrenchment strategies. That is, political environment would have big influence on the sequential investment strategies of corporations.
Second, the higher level of uncertainty in product market, the more likely it is that those corporations would choose stable or retrenchment strategies. That is, the product market uncertainty would influence sequential investment strategies of corporations.
Third, the corporations with high level of capabilities, the probability of choosing stable or strategies would decrease when they face product market uncertainty.
Fourth, the higher level of corporations’ local market dependency, the probability of choosing retrenchment strategy would be higher when they face political environmental uncertainty.
Fifth, the higher level of corporations’local market dependency, the probability of choosing retrenchment strategy would be higher when they face product market uncertainty.
