Zuoying District has a famous reputation for its exuberant numbers of temples, shrines and ancient houses. Most of them located between the district of Yijia and Cijia, which can also be refered to as the area on Liantan Road, Dianzihding Road and Zuoyingsia Road nowadays. Indeed, throughout the history, those temples, private shrines and ancient family houses have inevitably contributed to the development of the area. Since the aim of this research is to investigate what the role of traditional believe plays in the development of the area, it then focuses on those ancestor temples and shrines in hope to carry out a more in depth view. However, due to the lack of the related literary sources along with the reconstruction of the roads and the family ancient houses over the time, it adds difficulties to overlook the commumity in complement as well as for the research to be valid. Therefore, this resarch will be carried out by using fieldwork method; starting from analyzing how the all clans of the community gradually allocated and moved in this area and the primary purpose of building considerable amounts of temples and shrines. Via interviewing the locals; taking part in the process of the operation of the temples and shrines to being involved in the ceremonies, this paper tries to clarify what the influences of the traditional believe bring to the development of this area. Despite of the fact that the completeness view of the ancient community is under threat of the modernization of the area, the result of the research is trying to present an overall view about the current circumsatnce of the area and hope to draw a light for further investigations.
