生質柴油主要是以動植物油脂為原料,可幫助燃燒,並改善局部過濃混合區的燃燒,減少黑煙及粒狀汙染物的生成,較低排放量的一氧化碳及二氧化碳氣體。棕櫚油生質柴油(palm biodiesel, PBD)貯存溫度高,會導致油品快速氧化,添加抗氧化劑BTH(butylated hydroxytoluene)之棕櫚油生質柴油,儲存3000小時後,含水率、運動黏度、比重、殘碳量、酸價和過氧化價等性質之劣化速度最慢,而未添加抗氧化劑BTH之棕櫚油生質柴油儲存在60 ℃經3000小時之油品性質劣化最快。添加抗氧化劑BTH之棕櫚油生質柴油之碘價及不飽和脂肪酸減少速度較慢,且隨儲存時間增加而減少。
