Abstract Presenting the paper is one of the creation-argumentative papers which take creator his/her creation process and the works as the research objects of observation. It also takes the correlated literatures such as ‘portrait art historical development’, and ‘portrait carrier material quality development’ as the foundation of argument development. After analyzing and reorganizing these objects, the author tried to take from cultural criticizing angle to discuss those topics of portraits such as ‘portraits to be the symbols’ and ‘the role of portraits are playing in digital virtual network phenomena’ based on “Core”, “Recognition”, “Symbolization” points of views and also based on author’s observation on the characters of network field in “ knowledge / organization / power ” area. “The portraits” accompanied along with humanity's cultural development is one way that human prove “themselves being existing” in the world no matter when or where they might be. Along with the technical development and the overflow of sorted media, photograph machines and tools invention, and the social system development,“the portraits”now have the tons of possibilities in various appearances. Author attempts to compare the portraits from "Fighting Seat Placard"; painted by Yan, Zhenqing in Tang Dynasty in the past to the portraits of current political party lawmakers of Taiwan. According to the research above, author tired to put those pieces together to form a Taiwan politics chart which is divided by various politics parties. Author tries to create a series of contemporary political dimensions by re-grouping the different influences between the traditional culture view and the real-politic view, also by mixing with the calligraphy writing, the portraits and photo images. On the other hand, author tried to track down both familiar and the strangers’ faces from some certain wehsites in the network , by linking , sorting and analyzed them with their relationships appearing in multiple layers of structures in the network world in order to discover the current of people in Taiwan appearances. The chapters of the paper start from the introduction of portrait drawing vein to the carrier material quality variation to create the portraits. Then the paper will expand the topics toward the portraits in the digital network field territory, the network browsing participation research. And the author also auxiliary elaborates those with the author/creator’s a series of work and those ‘symbols vs. images’, ‘memories vs. record’, ‘authority vs. consume’ and other various subjects which are produced during this series work creating. Finally, the paper will makes the overall discussion to summarize, and will mention the boundary of the creation in brief as well as the ways of future development.
