本論文的主要研究目的,在於探討網路虛擬環境的行動使用者的相關行動運算研究議題。而本研究中的虛擬環境終極目標必須整合網路虛擬環境(NVE)與穿戴式電腦(wearable computer)二個研究領域。隨著網路虛擬環境的研究議題益發蓬勃,近來部分先進研究更將網路虛擬環境與行動運算連結在一起深入探討,由於與實際環境互動的需求與日俱增,行動計算研究亦愈熱門,唯過去網路虛擬實境需要高效能計算,過去多依賴桌上型電腦執行,隨者半導體產業與嵌入式系統越來越發達,行動式設備的運算能力越來越強,本研究將進一步探討在網路虛擬環境互動系統中加入行動運算後,以及需要面臨的相關整合議題,並提出MSS(Mobile Support Server,簡稱MSS)來協助完成目標。MSS是專為服務行動使用者而設計,包括提高行動網路連線狀態的穩定性、分擔運算負載量和控制資料傳輸以彌補行動設備的資源缺乏、以及讓行動設備所獲得的即時座標資訊能夠與虛擬環境一致。本研究歸納整理出這些議題,並且提供建議解決方案來減輕或避免問題的發生,最後實作初步實驗證明其可行。
The goal of this research is to propose a technique to integrate the mobile system into the legacy networked virtual environment. This research is composed of two essential domains, which are networked virtual environment (NVE) and wearable computing. The research presented in this thesis enable user of mobile system (refer as mobile user thereafter) join a networked virtual environment and interact with fixed location user within the same virtual environment. This thesis categorizes problems of achieving this goal into three technical issues including mobility networking, resource shortage, and coordination. According to categorized techniques issues, this thesis proposes the Mobility Supporting Server (MSS) approach to solve these problems. Finally, the MSS was implemented and experimented with an existing 3D networked virtual environment, called 3D virtual campus, in National Taipei University, Taipei, Taiwan. The experimental result successfully demonstrate the feasibility of proposed techniques and prove the possibly of building a full scale of networked augmented reality environment.
