摘 要
本研究旨在探討台灣通訊設備業民國94年至97年間之營運績效、生產力變動趨勢及環境變數對績效之影響。本研究選取上市(櫃)通訊設備業 17家作為研究對象。本研究採用投入導向差額變數模式分別評估研究樣本公司實務整體績效與個別績效(獲利力及市場力),使用交叉效率模式找出最佳績效之通訊設備製造商,應用麥氏指數來分析這些公司跨期生產力變動趨勢,並以迴歸分析來檢視環境變數對其營運績效之影響。
研究發現:(1)通訊設備業平均整體績效表現尚可,平均獲利力績效表現尚可,但平均市場力績效佳;(2)42.6%通訊廠商處於固定規模報酬遞增,45.6%處於規模報酬遞減,而有11.8%則為規模報酬遞增;(3)宏達電、系通及友勁在整體績效、獲利力績效及市場力績效最佳;(4)一個具有高整體績效的通訊設備製造商,有高度的獲利力並有中高度的市場力;(5)通訊設備業總因素生產力呈現衰退;(6)英業達、華冠及宏達電等3家為明星事業,友訊、德士通及互億3家為狗事業及11家為問題事業;(7)員工平均年齡、員工平均服務年資及高學歷比重對其整體績效均沒有顯著的影響。

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to asscess overall performance , productivity change of communication industry in Taiwan over 2005-2008 and to examine the effects of enviromental factors on the overall performance. 17 firms listed at stock exchange are selected as decision making units, including 17 class Communication manufacturing firm(CMU). This study used input-oriented slacks-based measure to assess overall performance , profitability and marketability performance ,utilized Malmquist index to estimate productivity change over a 4-year period, and finally applied Tobit regression to examine the effects of environmental factors on overall performance of these firms.
Results of the CMU show that (i) CMU performed at a median level of operational performance , performed at a median level of profitability and performed at a high level of marketability ; (ii) in average, 42.6% of firms were experienced constant resturns to scale , 45.6% of firms were experienced decreasing returns to scale , 11.8% of firms were experienced increasing returns to scale ; (iii) High Tech Computer Corporation Co., TranSystem Inc., and Cameo Communications Inc. rated as the best practice in terms of overall performance , profitability and marketability ; (iv) A CMU firm with a high level of overall performance would perform well in profitability , but with a median level of profitability ; (v) in average, the CMU were regressed in their total factor productivity over time ; (vi) Inventec Corporation Corp., Arima Communication Corp., and High Tech Computer Corporation Co. are identified as stars firms, and D-Link Corporation Co., Dsg Techniligy Inc., and Harvatek Corporation Corp., are identified as Dogs firms, others 11 firms are identified as Question marks firms, and (vii) the enviroumental factors have no impact on the overall performance of the CMU.
