From a few years ago, in Taiwan, as a result of the Japanese culture boom, many people have started to learn Japanese. Most of them are young people, and they are interested in the fashion, and pop of the Japan's young people. However, most of the youth idioms appear in the mass media not included in the general dictionary, so unable to understand the meaning of vocabulary. In this thesis, I hope through researching of the youth idioms of modern Japanese could understand the status of Japan's society, youth culture and ideas, and the meaning of vocabulary. There is also hope that this thesis will respond to the Japanese learners in Taiwan.
This thesis is divided into five chapters. The structure of thesis as following.
The first chapter describes the structure of thesis.
In chapter two, we explain forehand studies about youth idioms and define the youth idioms. And then, we explain the definition and the features of youth idioms and the background of using youth idioms.
In chapter three, we explain the word-formation of youth idioms in forehand studies. And then use the word-formation of this thesis to analyze 573youth idioms which were included in『gendaiyougo no kisochisiki』(2006~2008),and discuss the tendency of making youth idioms.
In chapter four, we use the table of Vocabulary classification from National Japanese institute to classify 573 youth idioms. And then from three perspectives- 「notation」「Types of language」「part of speech」-to discuss the feature and the structure of youth idioms.
In chapter five, we summarize the whole study and expound the results of this thesis. Finally, raise unresolved issues, and make them as future research topics.
