隨著行動裝置和無線網路日益進步,行動上網的瀏覽方式,讓資訊瀏覽可以隨時隨地取得。由於目前的網站大多是以一般電腦環境所建置,對於行動裝置較小的介面無法完整表示內容,加上無線頻寬的不穩定,容易造成讀取的延遲,使得行動上網的便利性大打折扣。「內容適性技術」探討的即是如何改善網頁資料呈現,來符合行動裝置各種限制情況下的環境。
本研究建置一個內容適性系統,針對目標網頁做適性處理,來滿足異質裝置上的限制。使用現今的頁面分割技術結合目前熱門的RSS訊息傳遞技術,將系統分割後的網頁結構,以RSS標籤來為區段內容做註解;並根據裝置的CC/PP偏好描述,對媒體物件做適當的轉形的處理。適性的結果內容,透過RSS摘要敘述及即時更新的特性,可以快速交付並且簡化訊息的表達,提供行動裝置使用者一個簡易和便利的資訊獲取形式。
最後藉由客觀的數值測量和主觀的問卷分析來調查RSS對適性系統所帶來的效益。結果證實使用RSS標籤來敘述網頁訊息,確實能有效減少網頁大小,所提供的內容可以加強系統的易用性,表達的訊息依舊能維持原始網頁意圖,整體內容是令人滿意的。代表著RSS的呈現方式結合內容適性的確能有效改善行動裝置在網路瀏覽上的缺點。
With the progress of mobile device and wireless network technology, mobile users can surf internet with mobile devices at anytime, everywhere. Due to most of traditional Web pages designed for PCs, the small screen of mobile devices can’t fully present the structure or content of Web pages. Moreover, the unstable bandwidth of the wireless network will affect the performance of Web page access. As a result, it is not convenient for users to use mobile devices to access internet. "Content adaptation" is a process that makes Web content fits with various mobile devices and their environments.
In this study, a mobile content adaptation system is constructed for adapting the original Web page to solve the problems of mobile Web access. Both page segment technology and Really Simple Syndication (RSS) technology are employed in our system to support Web content adaptation. With the help of CC/PP profile, the Web content can be transcoded into the appropriate format based on different device specifications. To facilitate the presentation of Web content, the RSS technology is used to reduce original Web content with concise and immediate updated information for Web content access.
Both the objective measurement and the subjective questionnaire are used to test the feasible of the mobile content adaptation system. The result showed that the use of RSS can describe the message of Web page clearly and reduce the size of Web page effectively. Overall, users are satisfied with the performance of the mobile content adaptation system, which means that with the assistance of the RSS mechanism, content adaptation can indeed improve the disadvantage of Web content browsing in mobile devices.
