電子郵件系統的發展源遠流長,在網路剛開始階段就出現,早期電子郵件只
是用來單純的郵件往來,並無垃圾信的困擾,因此SMTP 協定較為精簡。隨著
Internet 的發達,網路使用者增加,垃圾郵件(Spam)也隨之興起,因為當初SMTP
並無設定使用者認證機制,因此有許多來源不明、廣告郵件、病毒郵件、郵件容
易偽裝等問題,造成收信者的困擾以及伺服器的負擔。 而為了解決這些問題,
必須在郵件伺服上建置各種防禦機制,將垃圾郵件隔離。針對郵件過濾系統給予
電子郵件伺服器造成的影響,本研究將利用Postfix 電子郵件伺服器為測試主機,
利用SpamAssassin 以及Amavisd-new 建立垃圾郵件過濾系統,在同時間發送大
量的郵件使電子郵件伺服器處於高承載的情況下,調整郵件發送量、郵件大小以
及郵件過濾系統的參數設定,觀察對於郵件伺服器的影響。本研究發現當電子郵
件伺服器對於不同的郵件大小有不同的承載量,當大於某承載量時會出現郵件漏
接。而郵件過濾系統Amavisd-new 的參數設定則會影響電子郵件伺服器的郵件
處理速度,最佳參數設定會隨著郵件大小的不同而改變。
Electronic mail (E-mail) development has a long history, which has appeared since the initial stage of internet developing. In the earliest time, E-mail was only used for the pure mail intercourse without spam, and therefore, the SMTP agreement was simplificative. Along with internet developing, the network user consistently increases, and junk mail (Spam) also emerges along with it. As SMTP did not establish user authentication system initially, many unclear origin mails, advertisement mails, viral mails, and camouflage mails have become users’ headache as well as server’s burden. In order to solve these problems, varies defensive systems much be established into mail servers to isolate spam. This study will specifically focus on the influences of mail filtration system on mail servers. Moreover, this research would be using Postfix e-mail server as the main testing engine, and utilize SpamAssassin and Amavisd-new to establish junk mail filtration system. Furthermore, to put mail server in the high load status by transmitting massive mails in the same time, and observing the effects on mail servers through the adjustment of mail transmission volumes, sizes, and parameter hypothesis of the mail filtration system. Finally, the study discovered that the e-mail server has the different load bearing capacity regarding to different sizes of mails, and when it is larger than certain load-bearing capacity, fumbling occurs. Besides that, the parameter of mail filtration system, Amavisd-new, would affect the processing speed of the e-mail server, and the optimum parameter hypothesis would depend on the mail sizes.
