Abstract
The current application of short distance wireless network for industry and commerce is continuously thriving, and its focal point is the usage of combining RFID and other Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), such as UWB(Ultra Wide Band), Zigbee, Bluetooth; the wireless communication within short distance and with two or more nodes, and each node has one or more sensor can be considered as the scope of “wireless sensor network”. This thesis will propose two wireless sensor networks for practical applications; the student ID cards of Minghsin University of Science and Technology now have been replaced with build-in RFID TAG campus smart card, and the computers in the classroom can be accessed with student ID card via RFID card reader. As the cost is high to equip all computers with RFID card readers, therefore this paper proposes to use one computer for RFID identification verification and management, so that students are able to use RFID reader’s server for their identification verifications and the server will assign unoccupied computers for verified users; this means that only one card reader is required for one classroom and this will reduce management workload for computer classrooms. Roll calls and answering instructor’s questions are essential for all classes; therefore, to reduce roll call time and to promote answering instructor’s questions are the major purposes of this research. In order to enhance student’s willingness towards answering instructor’s questions in class, this research proposes to use RFID and Zigbee for class roll call and interactive system: equip instructor’s desk with Zigbee receiver and one PC, and equip student’s desks with RFID sensors, numerical keyboards and Zigbee transmission systems. And with the existing RFID TAG student ID card, instructor can proceed to do roll call and ask questions in class; students can use student ID card for verification and instructor can get to know student attendance in real time. The numerical keyboard can help students to answer instructor’s questions, either multiple choice questions or true/false questions; the instructor can also understand students’ learning situation in real time. This system is able to reduce the time wasted for roll call, and to simplify the way of answering questions for students.
