瀝青鋪面配合設計方法已由1960年間依據AASHTO道路試驗結果所發表之「設計暫行準則」,演變至今為全面性的考慮經驗與參考長期鋪面績效相關資料所制定之「力學經驗鋪面設計法(Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide,MEPDG)」,本研究使用美國於2004年所發表之「力學經驗鋪面設計法」,加以比較MEPDG所預測之車轍值及疲勞裂縫兩者與實際損壞情況之差異,同時考慮台灣北、中、南區之交通流量統計資料後,並加以預測道路之損壞情形。
研究結果發現在比較以MEPDG所預測之車轍值方面大致能符合現地實際量測結果,而疲勞裂縫之現地實際量測值卻有約超出預測值2至3倍之情形,原因可能MEPDG預測疲勞裂縫公式所使用K1、K2、K3之參數值,係採用1981年美國瀝青協會(Asphalt Institute)所提出之數值,如能修訂相關參數至符合本試驗路段之瀝青混凝土材料性質,應能大幅降低兩者間之差異,另再以台灣北、中、南地區不同交通流量所預測之道路損壞情形,結果發現MEPDG能夠預測出台灣地區高交通流量與低交通流量間道路損壞情形之差異。由於鋪面績效仍有差異性,MEPDG需加考量輸入參數的代表性,方可適用於台灣公路。
Asphalt pavement design method was based on “Interim Guide” that was announced by AASHTO road test result in 1960; nowadays, this design has been evolved into “Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG)” that is founded on comprehensive experience and relevant data about long-term pavement performance. This study makes use of the MEPDG that is announced by U.S. in 2004 to compare the differences between the rutting value & fatigue crack that are forecasted by MEPDG and the actual pavement distress condition. After considering the traffic volume statistical data from Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan, the pavement distress condition could be forecasted further.
The study result shows that the rutting values that are forecasted by MEPDG could approximately match with the actual site measurement; while the actual site measurement of fatigue crack exceeds the forecasted value for two or three times, this difference is probably because of the parameters, K1, K2, and K3, that are used in the formula of MEPDG fatigue crack forecast are the values that Asphalt Institute proposed in 1981. This difference should be reduced dramatically if relevant parameters could be revised to the values that could match the asphalt concrete nature of this tested road route. After comparing the pavement distress conditions that are forecasted by different traffic volumes from Northern, Central, and Southern Taiwan, the result shows that MEPDG could forecast the difference between the pavement distress conditions of high traffic volume and low traffic volume in Taiwan; therefore, it is necessary to further revise MEPDG before it could be used in Taiwan suitably.
