While understanding the interpretation of death illustrated in children''s picture book, children in the meantime, recognize the conception and experience about death conveyed by the authors. The purpose of this study is to discuss the related concepts about death portrayed in children''s picture book and to study the differences between Chinese and foreign children''s picture book, based on the analysis of structures, character and plot in the stories. Furthermore, the result of the study can further aid the publishers, authors and the users in understanding the concept of death. Results of study are as followers: 1.The similarities of Chinese children''s picture book and foreign children''s picture book. (1)Assume that children have the potential to interprete and understand the ideal "death is unavoidable " and they can conceive the phenomenon and concept of death. (2)Death has no sequential order with respect to age. (3)Both Chinese and foreign books assume when dealing with death we tend to produce feelings and conduct behaviors of fear, sadness and loneliness. 2.The comparisons differences between Chinese children''s picture book and foreign children''s picture book. (1)Their descriptions of death are illustrated with different languages and expression: the Chinese are cautious in adopting the word "death" while the foreigners use the word with boldness and positive attitude. (2)The pictorial illustrations of death are drawn and expressed differently: there are few descriptions of the scene on death in Chinese children''s picture book ; on the contrary, the scene of grave yard, funeral ceremony, outlook of casket are unavoidably shown and described in foreign children''s picture book. (3)Chinese children''s picture book instill the message of death into children'' mind, inspiring and leading children while foreign translated children''s picture book stress to have a philosophic attitude toward death. (4)Children''s picture book from different countries have their own unique characteristics: Chinese books, putting more emphasis on the development of the story, are suitable for senior students in elementary school to read, English-Chinese picture books, vivid in word description, can interest children to read with the elders leading aside. Japanese-Chinese picture books are tend to respect the nature law of life, other European books take the attitude toward death seriously, and are unique in style and color used by adopting black and grey, which are rarely used in other books.
