According to annual report of Taiwan in 2007, death by suicide has been the top 10 causes of death for 7 years, and the primary account for suicide is stress produced from hassling modern life. Coleman & Iso-Ahola(1993) recognizes leisure not only as a way to enhance self-determination and social support, but also effectively helps people in coping with life pressures. Hull(1990) also noted the possibility that leisure activities may generate positive effects on mental state and health.
This study divides the activities of zen into two types-the attention focused type the type of awareness, to investigate the relation and impact of flow experiences and benefits between different types of zen activities. The objects of this research were those who participated in zen activities held by Fo Guan Shan; besides, the objects came from three organizations of Fo Guan Youth, the teacher meditation camp, and the 7-day meditation unit. The purpose of the study is to discuss the differentiation of flow experiences and, activity efficiency produced, by different zen groups and activities; and to explore, the effective relations of the, efficiency produced by factors and zen activities from the flow experiences.
Through this study, we found that 「full attention in activities」 may have the biggest flow experience toward the Fo Guan Youth 「interpersonal communication」 will have the most effective efficiency in the activities; 「immediate feedback」 have the biggest flow experience for the meditation camp for 「immediate feedback」 have the biggest flow experience for the meditation camp for teachers, and 「interpersonal communication」 will be the maximum efficiency 「Full attention in activities」 could induce the biggest flow experience for the 7-day meditation unit 「emotional management」 is the most effective factor of it. Therefore, The benefit recognition could be promoted by way of enhancing feelings of all the various factors of flow experiences, From the results of the study.
