被動句是語言中重要的表達方式，主要功能是從受事的角度，描寫受到施事動作影響之後所引起的狀態。相關論述極其豐富，其中與本篇有密切相關的研究面向是從語言類型的角度，探討不同的被動語態系統，如原型語態(basic voice)、派生語態(derived voice)以及語用態 (pragmatic voice) (Klaiman 1991)，或檢視被動態成分的語義特徵(Palmer 1994)，或進行被動句跨語言對比(Croft 1990)。
漢語被動語態主要用「被字句」表達，其形式、語義及功能同樣受語言學家關注，有些從描述語法的角度，充分描寫漢語「被字句」，並提出語義分析(李珊1994)，有些則從功能語法角度，探討「被字句」的核心語義及其用法特徵(Li & Thompson 1981、屈承熹2006)。另外，也有些學者針對漢語與其他語言進行對比研究，但是比較對象大部分是英語(張居設2007)、日語(王娟2007)或韓語(張文禎2002)。與斯拉夫語的對比研究較少見。本文將從語言類型宏觀角度，檢視被動語態句構機制，通過英、俄、漢三種語言被動句形成動因，並從第二語學習者的角度，探討操俄語學生常見的漢語被動句偏誤。
有關漢語的被字句的研究指出，被字句基本上有兩個主要語義特徵：「處置式」與「不如意」。所謂的「處置式」是及物性範疇的屬性。因此本文先從及物性的角度對比三種語言的被動句。被字句的「不如意」是針對發話者而言，因此筆者認為涉及到發話者的視角或態度；換言之，所謂的發話者的視角或態度是主觀性範疇的屬性。本文進行三種語言被動句語用對比，從被字句的語義與語用找到比「不如意」基於此，更普遍的屬性，即主觀性並且再次說明英、俄被動態屬於衍生的語態，而漢語的被動態屬於語用的語態。
