The purpose of this thesis was to analyze the impact on enduring involvement of recreation motivation of visitors of Si-Tou Nature Education Area. By literature review, the study built up the above-mentioned hypothesis and used structure equation modeling (SEM) to test and to quantify the relationship between recreation motivation and enduring involvement of the visitors.
The study interviewed 1186 visitors, and then applied the SEM to examine their relationship between recreation motivation and enduring involvement. The statistical analysis based on 984 valid questionnaires showed that it had a suitable level of goodness-of-fit, and recreation motivation had a significant influence on enduring involvement. Furthermore, there was a positive correlation between each other of the four dimensions of recreation motivation. It showed that “nature” and “social bonding”, the two dimensions of recreation motivation, had a significant positively influence on “attraction”, “centrality” and “self-expression”, which were three dimensions of enduring involvement. “Escape” and “learning”, the other two dimensions of recreation motivation, also had a significant positively influence on “self-expression”. Only “learning” had a negative influence on “attraction”. This implied that nature and learning are important recreation motivation of the visitors of Si-Tou Nature Education Area, and they also had a significant influence on enduring involvement in similar activities.
