相異來源的海外直接投資(Foreign Direct Investment, FDI),可能帶給地主國不同外溢效果(Spillover Effect),而這些外溢效果最終將對地主國經濟發展產生不一致的影響。本文以81個開發中及已開發國家之跨國追蹤資料(Panel Data)進行研究,欲了解相異來源的FDI,在進入地主國從事投資活動時,是否會因來源不同而造成相異的外溢效果,進而對一國經濟成長產生不同的衝擊。實證結果發現,當FDI來源不同時,確實會對地主國的經濟成長產生不同影響。源於已開發國家的FDI所帶入之就業、技術等正向外溢效果,可能大於其所造成之技術攫取、市場攫取等負向外溢效果,因而促使地主國的經濟發展與來自已開發國家之FDI間存在正向關係。相反的,源於開發中國家之FDI可能因為對技術、人才等需求所產生的技術攫取效果大於其所帶入之正向外溢效果,造成地主國之經濟發展與來自開發中國家之FDI存有負向關係。同時我們也發現,一國經濟成長和該國人力資本、勞動力素質、基礎建設、貿易開放程度均存在緊密關係。
The different source of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) may bring different kind of spillover effect, and these spillover effects will have dissimilar impact to economic growth of host country. In order to realize the different source of FDI whether it brings the same spillover effect or not, we use panel data to discuss it, and the data are consisting of developed and developing country from 81 countries. In the empirical result, we find that different source of FDI really cause dissimilar influence to nation’s economy. The FDI from developed country bring positive spillover effect to host country, and there is a positive relationship between economic growth and inward FDI from developed country. In contrast with spillover effect from developed country, the FDI from developing country will cause negative economic growth to host country. Because of the FDI from developing country have negative spillover effect like skill-stealing effect; it may influence the economic growth of host country. At the same time, we find that the human capital, labor quality, infrastructure and trade openness are also play an important role of nation’s economic development..
