Phonological awareness (PA) has been thought a key ability link to word recognition and reading. Thus, phonological deficit has been proved one of main flaws in reading disorder (RD). However, the essence of phonological deficit or phonological awareness was still under debate. Too many factors cannot eliminate from the traditional PA tests make it low reliability. Recently, researchers found that MMN becomes a suitable tool to deal with problems beyond traditional PA tests can tell. In addition to phonological awareness, rapid automatized naming task (RAN) is another robust behavior index to differentiate children with or without reading disorder. With control the phonological and orthographic similarity in RAN items in this study, by using variety of time analysis, articulation time is better in discriminated 17 RD from 19 normal school-age children. Besides, the results show that the phonology information has great influence on RAN processing. Except the battery of behavior tests, the aim of current study is using multiple MMN paradigms evaluate whether it can be used to differentiate children with or without reading disorder in Taiwan. Three kinds of CV syllable contrasts which in the initial consonant, the ending vowel and the lexical tone will be use to elicit MMN. 18 RD and 20 chronological age matched normal control on 3rd to 7th grade were involved. Both groups show MMN and late discriminated negativity (LDN) in ending vowel contrast condition. Different MMN and LDN pattern has show in two groups in lexical tone contrast condition. And it didn’t appear clear MMN or LDN pattern in initial consonant contrast, especially in the group of reading disorder.
