本研究目的在於探討工科大四女學生生涯發展歷程中所遭遇的困境以及解決之道、影響生涯抉擇的因素。本研究採質性研究,以國立雲林科技大學為例,共訪談六位來自工科背景的大四女學生,研究發現如下:
一、工科大四女學生選擇工科系所的動機,原因包括離家較近、兄長影響、喜愛
雲科大校園、成績分發及個人興趣等因素。
二、工科大四女學生就讀工科系所遭遇的困境:異性互動困難、對學校的認同感
不足、被孤立的弱勢女學生、學業困難、個性特質造成人際關係不佳、無法
達成父母期望、家長對技職體系的刻板印象及班對所承受的壓力困境。
三、工科大四女學生面臨生涯發展歷程上的困境時,因應之道包括:勇敢與異性
展開互動、融入男同學的生活圈、學習男同學的語言及行為的表達方式、參
與學校社團活動,以提高對學校的認同感、選擇另一個可符合父母期望的道
路、向同學及好友傾吐心事及藉由老師專業的分析,消弭家長對技職教育體
系的刻板印象。
四、另一方面,本研究歸納出能影響工科大四女學生的生涯歷程的因素有:
(一)家庭背景因素:父母職業、出生序、父母對性別的看法及母親與姊妹的
典範。
(二)個人背景因素:校外活動、社團活動、數理能力、人格特質,以及自信
心。
(三)學習環境因素:大學新鮮人生活、性別刻板印象、師生關係、教授性別、
影響最深的老師。
The purpose of this study is to explore the motivation, the reasons, and the approach applied in solving the predicament among engineering senior female students in National Yunlin University of Science & Technology. The principle method of the study is based on the qualitative study by interviewing six female students. The study has found that:
1.The motivation engineering senior female students chose their engineering department of enginerring includes the short distance from school to home, the effect upon older brothers, the affection for the campus, the distribution of the accomplishments, and the personal interests.
2.The predicament engineering senior female students confront in their career progress:the difficulties in interacting among opposite sex, the minority female students in the class, the difficulties in school work, bad interpersonal relationship because of persoanlity, not come to parents’ expectation, parents’ stereotype towards vocational education,the pressure of couple in class
3.The problem-solving engineering senior female students use when confronting
their predicament: interact with male students bravely, fit it to male students’ life circle, learn male students’ expression of language and behavior, participate in school’s association to enhance identification with the school, choose another decision to fit in with parents’ expectation, talk something care with mates, and request teachers to give an analysis to avert parents’ stereotype towards vocational education.
4.On the other hand, the study has concluded the reasons for influencing the career progress of engineering female students:
(1)family reasons: parents’ career, the order of birth, parents’ attitude toward gender, and the learning pattern of mother and sister.
(2)personal reasons: the activities after school, the activities of association, the ability of mathematics, physics and chemistry, personality,
and self-confident.
(3)learning circumstance reasons: the life of freshman, gender-role stereotype, the relationship between teachers and students, the gender of professors, the teachers who influence oneself deeply.
