Foreign direct investment has become one of the most important financial sources of capital contributing to the development of Vietnam. After 20 years of opening the economy, foreign investment has directly made positive impact on the economy’s values and facilitated Vietnam’s integration into the world economy. However, in order to attract the Foreign Direct Investment, it is necessary to have preferential, sound and timely policies from the Government. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the FDI development in Vietnam by analyzing a case of a Taiwanese company, Gwan Hsian, operating in Vietnam and establish the importance role of FDI in the economies of Vietnam in terms of development. The research was developed under a qualitative method approach using primary and secondary data for the analysis process. The paper also mentions the importance of investment policies from the Government which have a great support to the FDI attraction. The paper finally offers a set of recommendations regarding policies to increase the contribution of FDI to Vietnam’s economic development.
