鏈結分析乃犯罪偵查的重要工具之一，顯性鏈結(explicit link)常被用來建立犯罪個體間的鏈結，如親屬關係、財務交易及通聯紀錄等。隱性鏈結(implicit link)亦常被用於犯罪剖繪且極具運用價值，但其效能常取決於剖繪專家的經驗智慧。然而運用資料探勘技術分析刑案紀錄表的內容而建構的隱性鏈結，如犯罪模式、犯案的區域特性及犯案時間，則鮮少用於建立犯罪個體間的鏈結。本研究擬以資料探勘技術，提供量化客觀的資訊，輔助犯罪偵查工作。
當刑事案件發生後，承辦員警須填寫刑案紀錄表，內容包含發生地點、發生日期及發生時間等案件基本資料，及犯罪原因、犯罪習癖、準備措施、犯罪方法、犯罪工具等五項犯罪模式資料。本研究擬藉由分析刑案紀錄，整合犯罪模式、犯罪區域特性及犯罪時間等三項關聯係數，建立刑案隱性鏈結之關聯模式。犯罪模式關聯模式以其變數的資訊熵值(information entropy)與變數值的機率分佈，作為權重，據以計算犯罪關聯係數。犯罪區域特性關聯模式則先計算慣犯的犯案距離分佈，並據以作為犯罪區域特性之關聯係數。犯罪時間關聯模式則將一天的時間依中位數及第1、3四分位數分為四個時段，並以慣犯之犯案時段分佈計算犯罪時間之關聯係數。本研究以刑案關聯之準確度(precision)、檢出率(recall)及整體綜效(F-measure)，評估刑案關聯模式之效度。
