Purpose of this study is to develop a developing platform for rapid controller proto-typing (RCP), the platform is fulfilled by combining design, simulation, and source code generation of the controller under computerized processes. An implement to a fuzzy controller to control the feed rate of a table EDM is carried out in this thesis. The developing platform for RCP is built under the MATLAB. The developing time of the controller can be tremendously decreased by using the RTW and Embedded Target C2000 tools of the MATLAB to generate the control code for the RCP . The gap voltage is used to be the input variable of the fuzzy controller of the table EDM. Fuzzy control rules formulated based on the instantaneous gap voltage to calculate the gap voltage changing rate and the feed rate to control the motor of EDM. Meanwhile, in addition to implementing a TI emulation board F2808eZdsp to be the controller, an interfacing circuit, functioned to isolate high and low voltages electric connection between the board and EDM circuit, is designed and fabricated in this research. The MATLAB/GUI is used to design a PC based user interface for online monitoring and parameters adjusting. Finally, the fuzzy controller for the table EDM developed in this thesis is evaluated having better machining efficiency than traditional PID controller.
