本研究旨在探討企業實踐社會責任之歷程及模式,以臺灣生物科技廠商-加特福生技公司為例,分析歸納廠商發展企業社會責任的原則之動機及因素、到如何回應社會責任之過程、最後落實社會績效的作為及影響,藉此發展出台灣生物科技廠商在踐社會責任的歷程及模式,提供學術界及實務界參考。

本研究係以Wood(1994)的社會績效理論模型(CSP Model)為主要研究架構基礎來實證分析。因本研究具解釋性研究的特性,故採用質性取向之個案研究法,研究對象為加特福生物科技公司,在落實企業社會責任與績效作為方面皆具代表性及重要性。訪問對象包括董事長、總經理、副總經理、特助、營養師、研發部主管及台灣經銷商,共計7 位。探究利害關係人對個案企業實踐社會責任績效的觀點,以分析臺灣生物科技業在發展企業社會績效之模式。並經由資料三角檢定及調查者三角檢定法來提高研究信效度,以回應研究目的與問題。

經個案研究結果發現,個案公司在發展企業社會責任之原則,受個人原則影響最深,接著向下影響制度原則及組織原則,而此兩種原則會相互影響其發展。在企業社會責任原則發展完全後,企業透過先對環境分析,再到涉及之利害關係人之分析,並採取主動的回應方式來呼應社會責任原則,接著投注相關的議題管理。最後再依據這些原則及過程,落實相關的公益活動及贊助行為,本研究發現生物科技廠商落實社會績效的作為,以對人及組織的影響最深,接著是社會體制,而對環境相關的績效作為及影響則較小。本研究另發現不同產業在企業社會績效實踐的模式都不盡相同,包括企業社會責任之原則的模式、社會責任所採取的回應方式及績效影響的層面,皆會因產業特性或利害關係人著重層度不同而有所不同。

Corporate social performance (CSP), as conceived in the Wood (1991) framework, is a set of descriptive categorizations of business activity, focusing on the impacts and outcomes for society, stakeholders and the firm itself. Types of relevant outcomes are determined by the firm’s general and specific linkages, as defined by the structural principles of corporate social CSR. The purpose of this study is to explore the divergent implementation models and progress of corporate social performance through case study. The dimensions of CSP model in this research is followed by Wood (1994) framework, including the principle of CSR, the process of social responsiveness and the outcomes and impact of social behavior. The researcher also conducted interviews with the CEO, managerial staff and key stakeholders in order to understand how CSP be implemented on biotechnical industry. Seven interviewees from this case were interviewed to depict the critical implementation processes of CSP. Data were analyzed through content analysis strategies.

The results of this study reveal that the managerial discretion has a great contribution to the development of CSR principle, and legitimacy and public responsibility are following. The most possible reason is that the SME is usually influenced by the promoter much. Secondly, the process of social responsiveness, which embraces the capacity to respond to changing societal conditions and related stakeholders, usually takes “proactive” action to react upon issue and public affairs management. The reason might be connected to the industry characteristic. The last element of CSP, social behavior, has much effect and put more focus on people and organization, social systems and institutions are second, natural and physical environment are not involved much. Thus, these results could offer not only for scholarship as a reference on comparing different industries of CSP progress and model, but also for making the policies and plans such as Government or biotechnical enterprises in practice.
