本研究旨在發展一具有良好信度、效度、難易度及鑑別度之國小英語字彙評量工具,並分析此評量工具能否有效評量國小學生英語字彙能力,以提供學生了解個人字彙學習狀況,提供教師進行課程設計、教育當局擬訂英語教學政策及相關英語字彙研究之參考。
本研究所發展之英語字彙評量工具是以認知字彙及應用字彙兩個面向發展評量工具之內容。又本研究樣本取樣方式,是以分層隨機抽樣方式,從新北市九大教務行政區中,抽取五區再依各區學校總數,抽取10%學校數,共12所學校,再從各校抽取1班,共有383 名六年級國小學童進行施測。研究者將受試學生作答資料進行信效度、鑑別度分析和試題特徵曲線分析。
分析結果顯示本研究工具具有良好的信效度、鑑別度,且本研究所發展出工具其難易度及試題選'項特徵曲線皆符合一份優良測驗工具所需具備的特徵,可有效評量國小學生英語字彙能力。

The main purpose of this study aimed to develop an English Vocabulary proficiency test for students in elementary school and construct a model of English vocabulary proficiency achievement. The test and model might provide guidelines to teachers, school authorities and researchers on English education in the future.
The English vocabulary proficiency test was constructed by the receptive and productive dimensions. The test was given to 383 sixth graders (who were selected randomly by stratified sampling from 12 classes in 12 different elementary schools, drawn from 10% of the schools in five of the nine educational administration districts in New Taipei City). After which, the collected data had been analyzed by reliability, validity, discrimination, and option-characteristic curves.
The results showed that this test qualified for the criterions of a superior test inventory. The reliability, validity, discrimination and option-characteristic curves of the test are appropriate and useful for measuring English vocabulary proficiency of elementary school students.
