A Study of Writing Picture Book “ Siapen-Miturid” in Orchid Island
Abstract
The thesis is based on oral literature. The oral literature of Tao can be briefly classified into Genesis myths, migration of family, taboo and biography.
This thesis is to study the biography. Because the oral literature is only transmitted through oral narration or songs, the stories can be changed in the circumstance of misinformation. Therefore, it is necessary to gather a lot of references and documents, and prove the truthfulness. Even though the result of the story can not provide the initial story, the basic well-known structure is not changed.
The story is written according to interviewing the elders, using the content analytic method and references analyzing. The pictures are drawn by creation experiment method; using different materials such as colored ink, watercolor and color pencils, and different skills to make the story diverse.
The story is written in several chapters. The writing skills include metaphor, denotation and exemplification. Besides the concrete pictures, there are some symbols of Tao cultures. Readers can gain more fun and ponder on the cultural meaning of each picture.
In conclusion, the story provides not only the biography of Siapen-Muturid, but also the evidence of the communication between people in Orchid Island and Batan Island. The result of the thesis can provide the information for those who want to study Orchid Island and Batan Island.
