In order to finish mass production of TFT Array and Color Filter of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), we need to apply mask photolithography technology to finish pattern transformation from mask to substrates of LCD. To simplify description mask production process, that uses mask substrates that has photo resist and chrome coating on crystal blank, and use laser or e-beam to draw geometry on crystal substrate, and then apply developing process to remove the resist that had been exposed by laser or e-beam,and use etching process to etch chrome that area without photo resist protection. Finally, remove the rest photo resist, and get the geometry with chrome material on mask substrates. LCD vendor apply the mask as the tool of mass production. That is similar to the photography principle, the mask function like as film that can develop many pictures, the geometry of mask can be transferred to the substrates of LCD for mass production. The quality of film will affect the pictures quality, it is same for mask of quality will affect the quality of LCD. Before mask production, the mask geometry data preparation have to be finished, if the data preparation is not correct, it will result in mask and TFT-LCD fail and also result in the serious material cost lose of mask and TFT-LCD. The complication of mask data preparation is due to there are many different masks’ size, and different customers’ requirement, and result in various of mask layout. Generally speaking, the mask house face to more than one hundred mask layout, that’s why it is easy to make error on mask data preparation. So this study will focus on auto generating large area TFT-LCD mask layout geometry. Through the auto layout generation system, we can standardize the data preparation, simplify the geometry data preparation, and reduce the error on mask data preparation process.This study will define the template file for geometry data preparation, and it will suit to various of mask size requirement, and then design GDSII geometry data preparation program to read the template file, and it will generate barcode, mask ID, mask serial no, logo GDSII geometry and integrate with customer’s design circuit into one complete geometry for mask production.
