The interview is nothing but the presentation of the dressing, makeup and abilities. When job candidates all show up at interviews looking neat and tidy, with their outfits and hairstyles nicely put together and done, the way in which they present and make up their facial appearance becomes rather important. Many female candidates use make-up to show their serious attitude to the interview of this company and present the etiquette. Moreover, make-up not only shows one’s attitude, but also displays the company’s public image. For this reason, many enterprises even open courses to train employees on etiquette and make-up. Moreover, when women make preparations for an interview, they will make efforts in their appearance attractiveness to show they value the job offer seriously. Many literature researches indicate appearance attractiveness also makes the interviewer confused about the candidate’s profession and affects their impression and evaluation on the candidate. Especially, it has also been indicated that men place more importance upon the attractiveness of appearances than women (Feingold, 1992). Hence, the purpose of this study is to discuss and explore the effect of whether the female candidates applying make-up or not on the impression evaluation of the male and female interviewers. The research results show that female candidates with make-up leave a better impression to both male and female interviewers than candidates without make-up. Also, make-up indeed increases the appearance attractiveness of female candidates.
