In recent years, global industrial environment has been changing, so innovation is one of the important factors in increasing firm performance. Human capital is the origin of innovation, and the importance of human capital has improved gradually. Human capital represents knowledge and working ability of employees. This study finds that human capital has differential impact on firm performance in different R&D intensity high tech firms in Taiwan. Fist, the result shows that education level, employee service year, and employee age have significant impact on firm performance for high tech firms. Second, the result shows that education level and employee service year have differential impact on firm performance for high and low R&D intensity high tech firms. Employee age also has different impacts on firm performance for high and low R&D high tech firms, but it is not significant. Accordingly , this study suggests that education level, employee service year, and employee age can affect firm performance. Besides, the regression analysis indicates that education level and employee service year have differential impact on firm performance performance for high and low R&D intensity high tech firms.
