2004年12月26日,由芮氏地震規模震級MW=9.3引發的海嘯波,席捲印度洋半島沿海地區和所有這些領域建立起來的自然和環境造成廣泛的破壞。由於要減少海嘯的衝擊,本論文試圖強調適當的土地利用方式對沿海地區的重要性。深受海嘯蹂躪的亞齊省沿海地區,被選作為本論文研究個案。
本研究採用QGIS軟體的疊加技術進行研究。此種海嘯的水動力資料包括海嘯上升,淹沒面積的範圍和局部波浪深度作為參考,並根據其破壞程度以確定受災地區及風險程度的類別。根據破壞程度,確定三種風險區域的分類分別為高風險區,中風險區和低風險區。利用此三種風險區域覆疊在現有土地使用型態即可指出在亞齊省班達市海岸地區的土地使用模式。
本結果包含在班達省亞齊市沿海地區在海嘯後的土地使用顯示
都市地區土地使用退縮線的層次,趨向於往城市內陸或南部發展。因此,未來的研究應詳實探討有關在海嘯風險降低的目的下各層次分類及功能。

On December 26, 2004, a magnitude of Mw = 9.3 Scale of Richter earthquake triggered a tsunami wave and swept coastal areas in Indian Ocean Peninsula and caused extensive damage to all natural and built up environment on those areas. This thesis attempts to highlight the importance of appropriate land use patterns on coastal areas in order to minimize the impact of tsunami. Coastal area of Banda Aceh, which highly devastated by the tsunami, is selected as study case.
This research is carried out by overlay technique using QGIS software. Such hydrodynamic data of tsunami including tsunami run-up, extent of inundation area and the local wave depth are used as reference to identify classification of affected areas and level of risk based on its destruction level. According to the destruction levels, 3 classifications of risk area are determined namely high-risk, medium-risk and low risk-area. These three risk areas are then overlaid with existing land use pattern to figure out model of land use on coastal area in Banda Aceh.
The result implies that post-tsunami, land use in coastal areas of Banda Aceh indicates layer areas of land use with setback line of urban areas that tends to develop into inland or southern part of the city. Hence, future studies should examine in detail about each layers and its function following tsunami risk reduction purpose.
