群集路由協定是一種有效地拓撲結構,可以增加無線感測網路的擴展性,且可以有效地發揮感測器有限的能源。但是,網路中每個感測器的能源消耗不一定相同,網路中某些感測器若是快速的消耗完它們的能源,可能造成通訊上的瓶頸。如此一來,資料可能就不能傳送回給基地台。舉例來說,離基地台較遠的群集,要花較多的能源才能將資料傳送回給基地台。在本論文中,群集是一層層的分佈在基地台的四周。如此一來,每一層的群集中感測器的平均耗能,都可以由群集與基地台的距離推算出來。既然知道網路中感測器能源消耗的多寡,我們可以利用這些資訊去調整每層中群集的大小,如此一來,就可以延長網路的壽命與資料回收率。
Clustering routing protocols can increase the scalability of wireless sensor networks and efficiently utilize the limited energy resources of the sensors. However, the loading or energy consumption of sensors in networks is heterogeneous so that some sensors may die earlier than the others causing disconnection or isolation in the network. In such a case, data may not be delivered properly to the base station (BS). In this paper, clusters are formed by proper selecting cluster heads layer by layer around the BS to balance the average energy consumption for sensors in distinct clusters. Consequently, the network availability can be enhanced and then increase the number of data successfully delivered to the BS.
