本研究使用戈登人格剖析量表對國內314位(196份有效回收)現役航管員進行調查,所得量表分數與航管員個人資料及訓練考核成績進行統計分析,以探討人格特質作為航管員晉用評估之可行性。
航管員人格特質分佈之分析顯示:航管人員在責任感、情緒穩定、自尊心與小心謹慎等特質高於一般成人;在航管人員之中,責任感、小心謹慎、精力充沛與社交性特質上較強烈者較有機會成為督導或協調員。
人格特質與訓練考核成績之區別分析結果顯示:在機場考核中,情緒穩定與個人關係為不利於訓練表現之負向特質;近場非雷達考核中責任感與小心謹慎為利於訓練表現之正向特質;近場雷達考核中主導性、責任感、個人關係與原創思考為利於訓練表現之正向特質。
本研究為人格評估於航管人員晉用中使用之可行性提供統計上之驗證,但建議未來可使用更精確的人員表現評估方式進行人格特質與航管工作之研究,於獲得航管工作表現與特質人格特質相關之有力論證後,方將人格特質評估納入航管人員的晉用流程中。更近一步可仿效美國聯邦航空暑,協請專業人員設計專屬飛航管制人員晉用之人格特質量表,以達成提升人員晉用之績效、節約訓練資源及提升飛航安全之目標。

The use of personality assessment in selection of air traffic controller can be traced back to 1960s. Recently Federal Aviation Administration, Airservice Australia and Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (German Flight Safety Company) have also used the personality assessment as part of the selection process of air traffic control personnel. The Air Navigation and Weather Services (ANWS) of Taiwan however have not yet used the personality assessment into selection process of air traffic controller. The aim of research is to assess the availability of using personality assessment in selection of Taiwanese air traffic personnel.
The Gordon Personal Profile-Inventory (GPP-I) was administered to 196 (103 male, 93 female) air traffic controller of ANWS. The personal data and traing record were also clollected to make a statistical analysis with GPP-I scores.
The t-test analysis showed that air traffic controllers have higher average score than normative samples in Responsibility, Emotional Stability, Self-Esteem and Cautiousness.The discriminant analysis showed that air traffic controller who exhibited higher Responsibility, Cautiousness, Sociability and Vigor has higher possibility to become a supervisor or coordinator.
The discriminant analysis between training records and GPP-I scores showed that Emotional Stability and Personal Relation have negative effects to the Aerodrome Control training. Responsibility and Cautiousness have positive effects to the Approach non-Radar Control training. Ascendancy, Responsibility, Personal Relation and Original Thinking have positive effects to Approach Radar Control training.
The result provided a statistical verification of correlation between personality and traininig performance of air traffic control. Therefore the research suggests that ANWS can apply the personal assessment into selection of air traffic control personnel in the future. But the more researches should also be applied to verify the correlation between the real performance and personality of air traffic controllers. ANWS can also construct its own personality assessment inventory for personnel selection, which can more precisely assess the requiring personality.
