The purpose of this study is to investigate the written computation of
student with mathematics disabilities(MD). Subjects in the study include 73
seventh grades students with MD in Taiwan Tainan city. The written
computation was examined by grade level expectation(Grade 1-6)and skill
area(whole number: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; rational
numbers: fraction, decimals)using the Mathematical Written Computation
Test. The finding indicated:
1. The written computation of these seventh grades students with MD
was at the third-grade levels.
2. Seventh grades students with MD had fluent written computation in
whole number basic facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division.
3. Seventh grades students with MD was lack of written computation on
many items deal with subtraction, multiplication, and division of
multiple digits and the remainder of division.
4. Seventh grades students with MD was also lack of ration number
items involving fraction and decimals.
5. The written computation of these seventh grades students with MD
was statistically significant difference among high and low group.
