Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between mentor’s thinking style and class climate which were perceived by students of music classes in public junior high schools in Taichung . The study was carried out among 330 first year junior high school students in Taichung. In this study, the questionnaire assessed the relationship between mentor’s thinking style and class climate which were perceived by students. The data had been compiled in a database using the SPSS for Windows 14.0 Chinese software program. The statistical methods were used Descriptive statistics and Pearson cross-product correlation . The findings of this study are shown as follows:
1.Thinking style of mentors of music classes in public junior high schools in Taichung tended to " liberal " thinking style. 2. In different background variables, "female", " Over 41 years old," "teaching years of 10 years", "general college education courses," " science teacher ," urban " mentors of music classes in public junior high schools in Taichung tended to " liberal " thinking style. 3.The whole class climate of music classes in public junior high schools in Taichung was above average degree. The highest score for "diversity", followed by " cohesiveness ", " competitiveness ", and " formality 4.In different background variables, "female", "31 to 40 years old," "teaching years of 10 years", "general college education courses." , "arts" and "sea area" mentors of music classes in public junior high schools in Taichung tended to better class climate. 5.Music class mentors’ " liberal " thinking style and class climate were positively correlated in all dimensions. 6.The relevance of mentors’ " conservative " thinking style and classroom climate is lower.
