台灣的人口快速老化,導致長期照護高齡化之現象,故延緩老化,開發老人的殘餘潛能顯得格外重要。本研究採類實驗研究設計,主要目的在檢視太極養生操訓練課程對社區老人健康體能與認知功能在介入前後之差異。本研究以台中兩個社區關懷站82名65歲以上的社區老人為受試者,依其意願分為實驗組(n=41)與對照組(n=41),實驗組介入每週三次、每次90分鐘、中等運動強度的太極養生操課程訓練,持續12週,而對照組保持原本的生活型態。以健康體能檢測與簡易智能評估量表(MMSE)做為研究工具。
資料收集後以SPSS 20版進行資料建檔及運用描述性統計、相依樣本t檢定及混合設計雙因子變異數分析等統計方法進行資料分析。研究結果發現:(一)在健康體能方面,實驗組在鍛鍊太極養生操12週後,在心肺耐力、肌力肌耐力與柔軟度等皆呈顯著差異(p<.05),實驗組的身體質量指數雖然無顯著下降,但後測結果仍顯著優於對照組(p<.05);(二)在認知功能方面,實驗組整體認知功能進步顯著(F=18.571, p<.001),且優於對照組,實驗組在簡易智能評估量表五大層面中的定向力、訊息登錄、語言理解、記憶力及計算能力等四方面呈小幅進步,在短期記憶的部分達顯著進步(t= -2.256, p=.030)。
研究顯示太極養生操課程介入能改善社區老人的健康體能與認知功能,建議將太極養生操推廣至各社區,並加強護理人員對於高齡照護課程的相關教育,以協助高齡長者達到活躍老化的目標。

Elderly population increases sharply in Taiwan, the needs of Long term care for them escalates. It is important to slow down aging and enhancing elders’ activities of daily living ability. This study used a quasi- experimental study design. Comparing the effectiveness of tai chi exercise to health-related physical fitness and cognitive function on elders. A total of 82 community elderly population were assigned to Tai Chi exercise training (n=41) and control (n=41) groups. For 12 weeks, the experimental group performed Tai Chi exercise training three times a week, 90 minutes each time while the control group didn’t received any Tai Chi exercise. The questionnaire of health-related physical fitness test and the Mini-Mental Status Examination were collected at baseline and after 12 weeks of intervention.
All data were analyzed by SPSS 20 statistical software. The statistical methods included descriptive statistics, dependent t-test and Mixed design two way ANOVA. The results of this study showed: (1) In the aspect of health-related physical fitness, Tai Chi exercise training group showed significantly difference in Cardiac endurance, Strength and Endurance, Flexibility (p<0.05), But no statistically significant changes on body composition. The Tai Chi training group had a better performance compared with the control group in body composition (p<0.05); (2) In the aspect of cognitive function, tai chi exercise groups were significantly better than control group (F=18.571, p<0.001). The MMSE results of orientation, registration, language, attention &; calculation had some advances, but no statistically significant. Significant improvement on recall (t= -2.256, p=0.030).
According to the results of this study, Tai Chi exercise training can improve health-related physical fitness and cognitive function on elders. Researchers suggested Tai Chi exercise training program can be extending to communities. It is necessary to provide nursing education programs, and focusing on the topic related to elders’ care.
