The field of human-computer interaction (HCI) has been developing for thirty years. Researchers can not expand the field more quickly as prior studies have been limited due to the lack of knowledge about the HCI architecture. This research seeks to understand the HCI intellectual architecture. Data was collected from the ISI Web of Knowledge. A total 2200 human-computer interaction related articles and 41,583 references were identified. There were 72 high cited research articles identified using a citation and co-citation analysis. Using factor analysis, we identified fifteen research areas, using cluster analysis we separated the eighth research areas. We also used Lotka''sLaw to help us understandingauthors published distributive in the HCI field. The findings of this study provide intellectual core and directions for researchers and practitioners interested in the HCI field.
