In this study, Helmholtz coils utilized to generate pulse electromagnetic fields combine with anti-cancer drugs Antrodia camphorata, and using biological index MTT assay commonly used in determination of cell survival rate. The purpose is to observe the influence of low frequency pulse electromagnetic fields on tumor cell growth, as well as the combination of PEMF and Antrodia camphorata increase the retardation time of cell growth or not. This experiment put pulse electromagnetic fields system into a cell culture environment that the temperature and the gas variation are excluded. Therefore, we can really observe the effect of pulse electromagnetic fields on cells. After exposure to 0.55mT, 1.1mT, 2.2mT magnetic fields, the growth of cancer cells have retardation effect, but the different magnetic fields have dissimilar reaction. Melanoma cells under 1.1mT and Antrodia camphorata only have 48% cell growth rate of the control group. Hela cells under 0.55mT and Antrodia camphorata only have 49% cell growth of the control group.
