This study investigate the whole body vibration (WBV) exposures of trailer drivers in a transportation company. In the first stage of study, a questionnaire was used to suvey working conditions and subjective discomfort of body parts among 6 driver groups. Questionnaire result indicated only one driver group was older and senior to other driver groups(p<0.004). The major discomfort body regions among trailer drivers were neck, upper back and lower back. In the second stage of study, twenty-two male trailer drivers were sampled and recruited to measure their daily WBV exposure. This study used 2 seat pads, 2 portable data loggers, and a portable media recorder to collect experiment data. Root mean square (RMS) acceleration, daily vibration dose value (VDVd) and daily equivalent static compression dose value (Sed) were determined from the collected data by ISO 2631-1 and ISO 2631-5 guidelines. Experimental results indicate that RMS and VDV has significantly under the upper boundary of ISO 2631-1 health guidance caution zone, but over 40% of the trailer drivers had Sed exceeding the lifetime exposure limit of ISO 2631-5 that associated with high probability of an adverse health effect (0.8 MPa).From the laws and regulations in force, the whole-body vibration (WBV) exposure of all the trailer drivers belongs to mid and low extent, but it still have rather leaning proportion to daily equivalent static compression dose value (Sed).
