臺灣博碩士論文加值系統

本研究意在探討時尚專業詞彙的英譯中特色及翻譯策略。由於時尚產業與一般生活中食衣住行相關，且在台灣市場中日趨受到重視，在中西方的時尚潮流來往絡繹不絕的情況下，目前已有許多源自西方的進口時尚精品進駐國內市場，因此本研究將深入分析時尚領域中專業用語在由英語譯入中文之過程中會有何種特色，並將歸納及整理所有主要及次要使用的翻譯技巧。本論文的研究對象以全球知名的美國皮件精品品牌COACH為主，以COACH 2013年於台灣上市的春夏季商品名稱為研究對象，在記錄該品牌官網上全數商品名稱後，將台灣中譯商品名稱與英文原文名稱進行比對，進而探究其中的規則與翻譯現象。
本研究內容包含五個章節及附錄；第一章第一節介紹研究背景，第二節提出國內外時尚產業現況，而第三節探討國內外相關研究文獻；第二章首先分析COACH商品名稱之英文名稱特色，並接著介紹2013年春夏季中最主要使用的翻譯原則，及此翻譯原則下使用的兩種翻譯策略：不譯與直譯。第三章開始，本文探討當季COACH採用的次要翻譯原則，及該原則下所使用之兩種次要翻譯技巧：簡化與省略，並在最後一小節中提出在時尚詞彙中重要性最低的三種變譯技巧。第四章主要分析COACH官網上2013年春夏商品名稱中所見之四種翻譯問題並提出改善方法，而最後一章將歸納本研究之發現，提出研究限制，並提供未來研究之可行方向。

This research explores the translation strategies and techniques used in the fashion industry when translations are made from English into Chinese. The fashion industry plays a key role in life and is attracting more attention in Taiwan. As East and West interact more frequently in the fashion industry, many Western fashion brands have made their way into the Taiwan market. This research analyzes the translation techniques of fashion terminology using COACH Inc., the luxury leather goods company from the United States, as a case-study. The season studied is spring/summer 2013; all product names on the COACH official website in Taiwan were compared with their original English names in order to discover the main principle of fashion term translation in COACH product names.
The full text is organized into five chapters; first, the study introduces the research background, offers an overview of the Taiwanese and Western fashion industries, and reviews domestic and foreign research literature. In the second chapter, the study analyzes COACH English product names and examines the two major translation techniques for fashion terminology found in COACH Chinese product names. A second major translation principle with two minor techniques employed in fashion term translation is indicated in the third chapter, with examples of the three least favorable techniques in COACH product name translation. In the following chapter, four major problems in COACH’s fashion term translation are identified, and suggestions for improvement are presented. Finally, the study concludes in the last chapter with the research findings, the limitations of the study, and possible future research related to fashion terminology.
