The previous studies concerning the user’s housing unit design modification (user’s modification henceforth) of pre-construction real estate mainly focused on the pre-construction apartments to examine the executing way of change and difficulties encountered, or to induct the model of user’s modification. The analysis has been carried out by before-after comparison of engineering design plan. It is recognized that the method adopted by past studies may omit the user’s demand and the result may not be suitable for the case of attached house. Therefore, this study adopts the attached house as the study object and attempts to examine the demand implication of user’s modification through case study relating to user’s modification based on the construction practice. On the other hand, this study also conducts the questionnaire survey to collect the related experience of user’s modification from construction companies. The companies’ attitudes and responses facing different user’s modification model can be understood. The result which has been obtained from the combination of the analysis of user’s modification cases and the questionnaire analysis shows that some reasons of user’s modification model of interior layout, bathroom equipment, material, pipeline of electricity and water supply are common, and some are specific cases. It is obviously that the ability that deals with user’s modification would be different among companies. This study attempts to propose the method of response for home-buyers based on the difference.
