城市中騎自行車越來越盛行,如在荷蘭、德國與丹麥都是自行車文化友善的城市,然而,一些國家如美國、澳洲與台灣,騎自行車的比例卻不高。有研究發現,在這些國家中,男女的騎乘自行車比例十分不平衡。為提高騎乘自行的比例,先期研究都指出一項關鍵,增加女性的騎自行車比例就可增加城市中整體騎乘自行車的人口。台灣女性騎自行車的比例很低,因為現今自行車多為男性為出發點做設計,沒有考慮到女性需求;而相關的政策與公共措施也偏向提倡大眾多使用汽、機車作為交通工具。因此,本研究欲了解台灣女性騎自行車的現況,並透過質性實地研究與量化的分析方法,找出設計洞見並提供解決方案,以提高在城市中的女性騎自行車比例。
在傳統的服務設計方法中,多是以質化的方法找出設計洞見,易使結果流於過度主觀,少了精確的客觀證據。而若單有量化數據,研究者可能會無法更全面性地觀察使用者,也容易忽略一些隱而未現的使用者需求。因此本研究融合質性與量化的設計方法,在質性方法上,透過「隨行觀察法」(Shadowing)實地觀察女性在城市脈絡中騎乘自行車的行為、並訪談使用者以了解問題點。接著,將所得結果量化分析,使用結合Kano model與品質機能展開(QFD)的方法,將結果作特色分類及重要性評估,最後找出可讓使用者感受魅力價值的設計要素。
本研究整理出六大女性關心的議題:(1)騎乘安全、(2)防盜、(3)省力、(4)維修、(5)外食和(6)社群。接著,本研究舉行設計工作坊來針對這些議題發展設計,最後提出三個整合設計原型:(1)資訊應用系統;(2)電動自行車充電與電池交換系統;(3)自行車社群空間與服務,同時滿足女性六大需求,為女性帶來安全、自信、愉快的騎乘經驗以及友善、自由與美麗的自行車文化城市。

Cycling in the city is becoming more and more popular. For example, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark are bicycle-friendly cities. However, countries such as United States, Australia and Taiwan, the bicycle rates are still very low. The study found that, in these countries, there are gender imbalance in cycling. In order to increase bicycle rate, prior studies all indicated one key factor, if increase women cycling rate, the population of cyclists in the city will also increase. Women tend to cycle less than men in Taiwan. One of the main reasons is that most of the bicycles are designed for man, but they ignore the needs of women. In addition, related polices and facilities tend to promote automobile culture in Taiwan. Therefore, we want to understand current condition of women cycling in urban, using qualitative methodology and quantitative analysis, we try to find design insights and provide solutions.
In traditional methods of service design, most of them are qualitative, the research results are easily too subjective and lack of objective evidences. However, if we only have data, researchers may not observe user comprehensively and easily to ignore some hidden user needs. Hence, to understand the key factors of women cycling in urban city, we use Shadowing and interviews to observe users. Then, we use a method for integration of the Kano model in Quality Function Deployment(QFD), in order to classify the needs and evaluate the priorities of design process. Eventually, we try to find out the attractive attributes, which can satisfy women while cycling.
We summarize six main issues: (1)Cycle safety;(2)Anti-stealing;(3)Effort-saving;(4)Maintenance and fix(5)Unique food culture-take way(6)Social motivation. Then, we conduct a design workshop to develop the design solutions from six issues. Finally, we propose three prototypes of integral design: (1)Applied information system;(2)Charging and exchanging battery system of electric bicycle;(3) Space and service for bicycle community, which can satisfy women’s six needs simultaneously.
In this study, we want to provide safe, confident and enjoyable bicycle riding experience for women. What’s more, we want to build cycle culture in city, to create a friendly, free and beautiful atmosphere.
