隨著現代醫療科技進步，民眾就醫的需求及選擇都隨著增加，也因為醫療利用機會越高，民眾對醫療認知與選擇的重視也隨之提升。又因為人口老化程度增長，因此年長者的醫療利用機會更占絕大多數，所以，本研究的目的在了解草屯地區中高齡者的病人自主態度，並進一步探討影響之相關因素。利用問卷調查在草屯地區蒐集資料，藉由45歲以上161名男性與237名女性的資料，透過四個面向: 知情同意、自我決策、行動自主、具有選擇與不同背景變項進行分析，使用「SPSS 12.0 for windows」套裝軟體進行描述性統計及t考驗進行分析，探討草屯地區中高齡個人背景變項中的性別、年齡、教育程度、婚姻狀況、宗教信仰、有無約束經驗、經濟來源、自覺健康狀況與職業，是否會影響病人自主態度的展現。結果顯示：（1）病人自主態度得分平均由2.45至4分（總平均4分，M=3.00）。（2）四個面向得分以知情同意（M=3.21，SD=0.33）為最高，行動自主（M=3.03，SD=0.38）次之，自我決策（M=3.02，SD=0.29）第三，具有選擇（M=2.77，SD=0.34）最低。（3）不同性別、宗教信仰、教育程度與職業類別在病人自主權態度整體層面有明顯差異，女性優於男性，有宗教信仰優於無宗教信仰、教育程度為大學以上優於其他教育程度，從事軍公教行業優於其他職業。整體來說:草屯地區民眾對於就醫時的病人自主態度偏於正向，對於自主權益意識增強，至於自主權的實際使用則有待進一步研究。

With the advances in modern medical technologies, the demand and selections for medical care services increase. Also, since the chances to use medical care services increase, the public has been more aware of medical care and showed more emphasis on choosing a medical treatments. As the older population grows rapidly, the elderly has become the major users of medical care services, so the purpose of this study is to understand attitude of autonomy of senior patients’ in Caotun areas and to further explore the impact of relevant factors. Questionnaires were used to collect data in Caotun region; data of 161 men aged over 45 years and 237 women aged over 45 years of were analyzed on four dimensions: informed consent, self-determination, act independently, option to accept/reject a medical treatment and different background variables. " SPSS 12.0 for Windows "software was used to run descriptive statistics and t tests to analyze if senior Caotun residents’ background variables: gender, age, education, marital status, religion, experience of being physically restrained, financial resources, self-perceived health status and occupation, will affect the attitude of patient autonomy. The results showed that: （1） the attitude of patient autonomy average scored 2.45-4 points （out of 4 points, M = 3） （2） Among four, informed consent （M = 3.21, SD = 0.33） got the highest scores, act independently （M = 3.0 3, SD = 0.38） had second highest scores, followed by self-decision （M = 3.02, SD = 0.29）, option to accept/reject a medical treatment （M = 2.77, SD = 0.34） got the lowest scores. （3） different genders, religions, education levels and occupations showed a significant difference in the attitude to patient autonomy; women are more autonomous than men, patient with religion are more autonomous than those with no religion, university degree or above is superior are more autonomous than others education levels, people who work in military, government and school sectors are more autonomous than other professions. Overall: Caotun residents showed positive attitude to patient autonomy in medical treatments and an increasing self-consciousness in autonomy; however, the actual use of autonomy remains to be further studied
