This study aimed to explore the elementary school teachers in Kaohsiung city to use interactive whiteboards (IWB) into teaching with “technology acceptance model” and “the use of interactive level” perspectives. The data was collected through the questionnaire included “IWB Accepted Scale” and “IWB Use of Interactive Level Scale”. This research object was teachers who have IWB teaching experience, and sampling method was stratified random sampling. A total of 707 questionnaires were return, including 703 valid questionnaires; the return percentage was 90% and availability was 99%. The Descriptive Statistics, Multi-Variate Analysis of Variance, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation statistical methods and Canonical Correlation were used to analyze the collected data. The results of study are as follows:
1. The dimensions of the teachers’ IWB acceptability were all high. Among them, the highest was perceived ease of use, followed by perceived usefulness, behavioral intention, and attitude toward use. 2. The teachers’ IWB acceptability was high, but the actual usage was low. 3. In terms of IWB use of interactive level, the basic level of interaction was the highest. 4. In terms of IWB acceptability, teachers use IWB more frequent peer week, more able to accept IWB. From the perspective of each dimensions, the male teachers’ perceptive ease of IWB use was higher than the female; the teachers who taught at school size of 49 or more classes felt IWB more useful than school size of 24 or less classes; the teachers with 21 or more years of teaching were more positive attitude toward use than the teachers with 6 to 10 years of teaching; in addition, the teachers who taught at school size of 25 to 48 classes were more positive attitude toward use than school size of 24 or less classes. 5. In terms of IWB use of interactive level, teachers use IWB more frequent peer week, teachers more often use basic and advanced interactive features. Furthermore, In terms of IWB advanced interactive features use, the male teachers were higher than the female teachers, the teachers with master or doctor degree were higher than the teachers with bachelor degree, the teachers with 5 or less years of teaching were higher than the teachers with 16 to 20 or more years of teaching, and the teachers with administrative work and specially appointed teacher were higher than the normal teacher. 6. For the elementary school teachers, there was a positive significant correlation between the IWB acceptability and the IWB use of interactive level. The IWB acceptability was lower, and then the IWB use of interactive level was lower. “The perceived ease of use” and “the perceived usefulness” were higher, and then the “IWB use of basic interactive level” was higher. In the end, this study analysis and result to provide concrete advices for the reference of the educational authorities, teachers and follow-up researchers.
