關於讀書會的實證研究，多數探討女性的學習，研究者參與善良親子讀書會多年經驗發現，讀書會的運作型式，不只適合母親的學習，其實際發揮的影響與成長空間，在父母身上都可以得到驗證，甚至親子一起參與的讀書會，更能凝聚父母持續參與學習的動機與動力。
本研究以善良親子讀會之學習成長團體，其中5位父母親為研究對象，探究父母親為了兼顧個人成長與親職教育，有計畫的用閱讀討論、經驗分享、專題演講、參觀、旅遊及藝文欣賞等方式，進行自我成長的學習活動，透過終身學習理念、以親子共學為主要學習型態案例，探究父母親持續參與親子讀書會之動機與學習歷程。
本研究採質性研究方法，以訪談、參與觀察紀錄為主，佐以文件蒐集、省思日記、活動計畫、會議紀錄等資料，透過整理與分析，歸納本研究之結論為:
一、父母是否持續參與親子讀書會學習，是透過積極參與學習以後之正向動力與
負向阻力交互作用決定。
二、參與親子讀書會有助於父母在提升自我的成長、增進家庭關係和諧、改變人
際關係、增加社區活動的參與、養成終身學習的習慣等五方面的學習成效。
基於本研究的結論與發現，分別提出以下建議:
一、對推展讀書會相關單位的建議:包括辦理社會資源再利用、能力開發訓練、
計畫撰寫與決策訓練等課程，提供參與者學習；推廣讀書會資訊聯絡網。
二、對終身學習課程規劃及教學者的建議:包括開設豐富多元、貼近生活的課程
設計；採用互動與對話的雙向教授方式。
三、對家庭教育輔導相關單位的建議:針對背景條件同質性高的家庭，推動辦理
親子共學方案。

In the past, research on study group has mainly aimed at learning process and effect among female subjects. This researcher found, based on her experiences participating in Sun-Liang Parent-Child Study Group (SPSG), the effect of participating in this kind of group would benefit both motherhood and fatherhood and together participation among parent and child would sustain their motivation of continuous participation in the group.
This study is to investigate the motivation, learning process and effect among parents who continuously participate in SPSG. Five parents in the group are chosen as the subject. This study has adopted a qualitative research approach, included interview, observation, reflection, and document collection as the main avenue of data collection. The analysis of data has reached conclusions as follows: (a) whether parents continue to participate in the group is an interactive result of the positive and negative effects accumulated through participation and learning in the group. (b)there are five aspects of learning effect evident among these parents in SPSG, including: promoting self-development, enriching family relationships, expending friendships, increase in community participation, and cultivating a lifetime learning habit.
Based on the research result, the researcher present suggestions as follows:
For promoting study group: recruiting social resources for developing study group, providing training in project development and proposal writing, and establishing study group information network.
For lifelong learning curriculum planning and instruction: including rich and different kinds of live-experience related curriculum and adopt interactional and dialogue oriented instruction.
For the department in charge family education and counseling: Developing parents-children learning plans for families who have similar backgrounds and needs and encouraging parent and child participate together in learning programs.
