前言: 近年來，由於人們生活習慣與飲食的改變，體重過重或肥胖已經成了全球化的問題。不論是在已開發國家或開發中國家，其盛行率都有持續增加的趨勢，也因此肥胖的問題已經成為了全球值得關注的問題。
研究目的: 本研究欲探討成年人飲食型態或社經地位是否影響肥胖。
研究方法: 使用台灣地區國民營養健康狀況變遷調查2004-2008年，排除遺漏的資料後共2423(男生1193人，女生1230人)。社經地位和飲食型態與肥胖的關係，以雙變項分析與邏輯斯迴歸來分析。
研究結果: 個人社經地位較高較不會造成肥胖，沒吸菸的人比較容易有肥胖的現象，吸菸較不會肥胖，以戒酒的人比現在還有喝酒、沒有喝酒的人還容易肥胖，早上吃點心/零食頻率很少、爾偶與經常吃早餐的人比從不吃的人更不容易肥胖，晚餐、宵夜也是如此，反而有吃中餐的人比較容易使人造成肥胖。
建議: 本研究的結果顯示飲食型態對肥胖並無顯著的影響，但在健康行為方面有顯著的影響，是否在抽菸、喝酒的衛教宣導上可以更加的落實，以改善國人對於抽菸、喝酒導致肥胖之問題。

Background: In recent years, due to the changes in lifestyle and diet, obesity or overweight has become a global problem. In developed as well as developing countries, the prevalence rates of obesity and overweight have been increasing. Issues regarding obesity have drawn intensive attention around the world.
Purpose: This study aimed at exploring the association between pattern of diet/socioeconomic status (SES) and obesity.
Methods: Data of Nutrition and Health Survey in Taiwan (2004-2008) were retrieved for this study. After excluding subjects with missing values, a total of 2,423 residents (1,193 males and 1,230 females) were included in the analysis. Bi-variate analysis and logistic regression were used to determine the relationship between variables under study.
Results: Higher individual SES was not associated with obesity. Compared to smokers,non-smokers tended to be obese. People who had quit drinking were more likely to be obese, compared to current and non-drinkers. People who seldom had refreshments/ snacks in the morning, occasionally/often had breakfast (compared to those who never), and occasionally/often had late-night snacks were less likely to be obese. Those who had lunch tended to be obese.
Conclusions: According to the results of this study, smoking and drinking behaviors, instead of patterns of diet, were significantly associated with obesity. In order to prevent the obesity related to smoking and drinking, more efforts on health education and promotion regarding smoking cessation and obesity control are recommended.
