Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area is very suited for recreation and travel activities for its abundant natural and culture resources. The annual tourist capacity of Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area is higher than any other National Scenic Area in Taiwan. Furthermore, the Administration attempt to make tourists to reach the best travel experience and completed management strategies so they keep executing plans and improvements to ensure the tourism quality. Recreation Opportunity Spectrum is a management system which reach the suitable maintenance and management target and it will classify environment resource and satisfy the needs of all kinds of tourists. For over a long period of time, emotions are regarded as the direct mental respondent happened when experience environmental events. The purpose of doing tourism and travel activities is no other than make physiology and psychology to a pleasant status. But there were few studies to discuss the whole environment spaces, especially to all different emotion experience under different environment types. Furthermore, emotion experience will reflect to environment management. As a result, this study will use emotion as a point a view to discuss the relationship between tourists’ emotional personality, emotional motivation, tourism environment selection and emotion experience.

In this study, the questionnaire survey location are twelve tourism spots in Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area and the twelve scenic spots are belonging to four environment types under recreation opportunity spectrum. The object of the survey are tourists who above 18 years old in Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. I used convenience sampling and gathered 499 effective samples. As for Data analytical method, I use Descriptive Statistics, Reliability Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Chi-square Test and One-Way Analysis of Variance to proceed analysis procedure. According to the result of recreation opportunity spectrum operation, most of the area in Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area are Half-Primitive Motor and Rural type.

The result shows that tourists of Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area can divided into three types: Social Steady type, Optimistic Lively type and Low Self-Confident type. Different emotional personality of the tourists are not related to tourism emotional motivation. Tourists when pursue positive emotion motivation is related to selecting different environmental types. Different environment under recreation opportunity spectrum will give tourists obviously different feeling on emotion experience. Some tourists with different emotional personality surely have different feelings on emotional experience. Different emotional personality is not related to selecting tourism environment.

For the future planning and management on physical operation part, I suggest that the concept of Recreation Opportunity Spectrum should be applied to Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. In addition, every different types of recreation environment should be carefully consider for its development and limitation on three basic environment attributes: physical environment, social environment and management environment. Then, formulate its design criteria and properly implement into every environment. For phycology part, every environment will give tourists different emotional experience so it should make sure to maintain space planning and tourists’ capacity in every environment. Therefore, it will meet up every types of tourists’ hobby and get the emotional experience they expected for. Furthermore, it should be avoid devastating the original
