This study aims to investigate the current situation of how kindergarten directors in Hsinchu County public schools perceive their job contents under the integrated kindergarten and nursery school policy. The investigation is carried out through questionnaires supplemented by individual interviews and focused on 44 kindergarten directors in Hsinchu County public elementary schools during the school year of 2014. This study applies statistical methods, such as the descriptive statistics, dependent t test, one way multivariate analysis of variance, one way analysis of variance, and Chi-square test to analyze data using the statistical software SPSS. The research results are as follow: 1. Under the integrated kindergarten and nursery school policy, the job contents of kindergarten directors in Hsinchu County public elementary schools include eight dimensions: the kindergarten administration, general affairs, human resource management, health and safety, curriculum teaching and management, establishment of a parenting community, enhancement of their professional training and others. Among these eight dimensions, except for “others” which is considered to be moderate-high important on the current perceived job contents, the other seven dimensions are considered to be highly important. As to the difficulty of the current perceived job contents, except for “enhancement of their professional training” which is considered to be moderate-low, the other seven dimensions are considered to be moderate-high. 2. The studied kindergarten directors reveal significant differences on both the importance and difficulty of current perceived job contents; and the former shows more significance than the latter does. 3. In the background variable aspect, only age and year of service show significant differences on the difficulty of current perceived job contents. 4. The causes of job dilemma for directors who work in Hsinchu County public kindergartens involve four aspects, i.e. role orientation, role expectation, working environment, and professional capacity, and among the causes, five of them are considered to be the main causes of Job dilemma by more than half of the studied directors. Among the background variables, only years of service, scales of kindergarten, and size of the public school show significant differences on the causes of job dilemma. Based on the aforementioned study result, these findings can be a reference for directors in public kindergarten to implement their responsibilities and a basis for the educational administration institution to plan kindergarten related policies in the future.
