In this decade, our living environment is facing the challenge of global warming and extreme climate change. The issue of environmental sustainability becomes more and more important and critical for our survivals. This research proposes a novel method called “3 cycling circles” to review the process of current product using. The method of 3 cycling circles is based on the concept of cradle to cradle (C2C) to assist customers finding the opportunities in their daily products. We break down a product into 3 parts including Main-product, Co-product, and Consumables. This process helps us to define and complete the weakness of product based on the 5 certifications of C2C.
In this paper, we review the event of joss paper burning in Taiwan temples. After the analysis based on 3 cycling circles, we conclude the ash from co-product part as our operation target. We propose the project called “Ash Regeneration” to develop the C2C product from ashes. Ash Regeneration aims to create the green manufacture process and complete the C2C cycle. We transfer ashes into a new material which can be modeled into various shapes. We use this ash material to replace the plastic materials and to build the plant pot. In the end we conduct the evaluation to compare those two kinds of plant pots.
This research concludes 3 contributions: 1. Building the method of 3 cycling circles and validate it with C2C certifications, 2. Engaging the C2C value into the ash recycle process to develop the green product, and 3. Demonstrating the green life product via replacing the plastic plant pot with C2C ash plant pot
